About AGAP...
AGAP: the society of friends of the Old Post Office Gallery
Located at the ends of Yonne, Nièvre and Loiret French "départements", Puisaye is a natural area in Burgundy, where were saved the charm and appeal of an old enchanted land, and a famous earthware and pottery. Nowadays, Puisaye shelters numerous potters and ceramists whose works contribute to a modern and living art: ceramics.
Contemporary Ceramics
In 1997, ceramists living and working in Puisaye, joined to found an exhibition site in Toucy (Yonne): the Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste is dedicated to earth arts and is a non-profit organization.
The building is a 17th century own city mansion and was during decades the Toucy Post Office. Shown works are unique pieces of ceramics, paintings and sculptures, with the artist's signature and a true aesthetical value.
Since its foundation, our society main purpose is to promote artistic contemporary ceramics. We organize six times a year exhibitions with the works of world-class ceramists.
AGAP wishes to play an educational role and to broadcast knowledges about ceramics. Lectures and conferences are organized, and a bookshop area is available, where you can find books, reviews and catalogs about clayware, earthenware, pottery, ceramics or Puisaye sandstones.
Friendly open
During year 2007, the Gallery appealed more than 9.000 visitors. Our faithfull clients and collectors come and come again from Burgundy, France, Europe and abroad, to discover the Gallery exhibitions.
Our society gathers about a hundred members so far. Members receive a newsletter four times a year via regular mail.
Friendly open, the Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste is a place for sharing and discovering about creation in contemporary ceramics.
